In light of the purpose of this blog and your stated mission to " see how each is being the Body of Christ", i am puzzled to see Christ-Scientist and Jehovah's Witness locations on your plan. Neither of them would likely acknowledge that they see themselves as "the Body of Christ." I am mostly curious about you feedback on these places. Similarly interest in the Synagogue. Do you feel that they would acknowledge an intentional role as "the Body of Christ"?
ReplyDeleteExcellent thoughts. I am working on my next post to help explain to readers more specifically of what to expect each week. If you'll reference the last sentence of the "About Us" page, located at the top of this page, you'll find that this entire venture is steeped highly in curiosity. All that to say: Good point! I don't know what Church-Scientist and Jehovah's Witnesses believe, claim, profess. The questions you pose are the same questions we are seeking to answer, and we hope to discover together with you throughout the next fifteen weeks. I hope you don't take this as a cop out. I'm blatantly admitting that I don't know the answers! But shoot, we're going to find out. Maybe when March 24 and April 28 role around, I'll reference this comment and the post will simply read, "See Greg's comment on the Tentative Schedule page... He was right." However, the schedule is tentative, subject to change and shift as we learn and gather insight. Thanks for your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteIt may prejudice your visit to these churches if you do the research beforehand regarding their stance on Biblical truth and the whole counsel of God's Word, however, if you do not investigate it prior to the visits then be certain to do so after the fact. You owe it to yourself and your lovely wife to know what is behind the "experience". You can record your thoughts on the experience and maybe never record your understanding of each churches stance on the Word of God since this is not the purpose of your blog but on a personal level be sure to do the research - it will help you later to look back on the experience through a more clear filter.

Tim, I've visited Faith Family on my down time when I'm not working at Canton Baptist Temple-on Saturday nights. Its great to have the extra perspective of what other churches are doing daily to expand God's kingdom. I'm praying for your journeys as you seek to expand your knowledge of other church families.
